look what i have!

i know, i know. i'm a bit late jumping on the bandwagon, but i finally bought the september issue of VOGUE today.  spending my evening reading it cover to cover... and then reading it again, cover to cover. eek! 700-something pages of pure bliss.

and for all of you that haven't watched "the september issue" yet, get on it! the film took my love of VOGUE to a whole new level.

lovin' you is cherry pie

lady gaga in t-minus 23 hours! i'm beyond excited to see her live. it will be so neat to see gaga's little monsters wearing outrageous, crazy costumes. my outfit won't be too ridiculous, but i did get these awesome hot pants from american apparel, and thought i'd give a sneak peek!

channeling lady G...

they sure hold everything in place! sturdy shorts equal buns o' steel!  i wish you all sweet dreams. i know i'll be dreaming of alejandro...

highly unlikely...

here is my very expensive wishlist for my potential birthday outfit. so sue me if i like this $10,000 balmain dress, i happen to think it would look fabulous on me! only in my dreams...

dream outfit - birthday edition
in reality, i may find myself a dress at h+m, or a thrift shop for that matter,  and mosey on down to white rock's classiest bar.  that's okay by me! i know i will have a fantastic time with friends and loved ones.

but if anybody insists on buying me those dsquared spine heels... i'm not going to stop you.

happy monday!

giggle n' bloom

last sunday, i was lucky enough to join a majority of my family on a day trip to the sunshine coast. the purpose of the trip - supporting my extraordinary cousin, chelsea, and attending the grand opening of her maternity & children's boutique, giggle n' bloom.  pictures do not do the store justice.  it is beautifully set up, and the array of products is incredible.  chelsea is a great advocate of promoting environmentally-friendly toys and childcare products, and she also supports other local businesses from the sunshine coast and elsewhere in british columbia.

a little background as to why this store opening was extra special...

chelsea minatsis, my uncle's daughter, has always been one of my many role models.  growing up, she was someone i admired for her maturity, kindness, and infectious laugh.  so when chelsea began dating the tall, dark, and handsome elias minatsis, and eventually married him, i, of course, was a big fan from day one.  he was shy, but embraced our family with open arms, and if you were ever lucky enough to be in the same room with the two of them, you would bear witness to what love truly looks like.  there was a point sometime after the wedding when i was determined to become a chef.  elias had been working as a chef for several years and i used him as my go-to guy for advice & inspiration.  he recognized my frustration with the culinary industry, and worked hard to keep my spirits up as i took on a co-op at a restaurant he worked at.

elias passed away last year of brain cancer.  a man that was a fixture in the town of gibsons, father to two beautiful girls, and husband to one incredible woman, was gone.  his death shook me to the core.  it was confusing to lose someone so wonderful at such a young age.  it was easy not to see it at some sort of cruel joke.  but enough about me.  i write this to honour my cousin chelsea, for the strength she has summoned to survive her first year without the love of her life, quit her job in the insurance sector, and single-handedly open up a store filled with love and happiness, dedicated to children, education, and eco-friendly fun.  there are no words to describe how proud elias would be.  chelsea is someone i continue to look up to, and recently, she has given me newfound strength to continue living my life to the fullest, while appreciating the beauty in my surroundings.

please take some time to check out the website for giggle n' bloom, and keep the store in mind when you need that special gift for a baby shower, children's birthday, or for a special someone who is expecting.

love these dresses - made from vintage pillowcases!

loafin' around

i'm loving the upcoming trends for autumn. shearling coats, rich camel colours, layers, all so wonderful. as much as i am embracing the summer weather we're having here in beautiful british columbia, i'm looking forward to slipping on boots, bundling up in fall coats, maybe darkening the blonde a little bit?

one footwear trend that is class all the way, and slowly pushing clogs out of the picture - anything loafer-inspired.  i'm a big fan of loafers as it is, but when you add a heel and some rich fall colours... it's loaf at first sight. oh man, it's just too easy.

tea for two and two for tea by alexander wang

photos just released - zoe kravitz (yes, of lenny kravitz and lisa monet), as the face of the t by alexander wang fall 2010 collection. i love the simplicity of the black and white photography. kravitz looks so great rocking her edgy look against wang's basic pieces. can't wait to get my hands on this collection.

hermione's twiggy-inspired cut... love it or hate it?

my two cents re: 2010 teen choice awards

lea michele, looking fabulous in green and beige naaem khan. green can be a tricky colour to pull off, but lea proves it looks great against her skin tone and dark features. can't ever go wrong with a cream shoe either... makes the legs go on forevs!

one of my favorites of the night.
kristen bell in a layered stella mccartney dress.
loving the colour... coral/red/orange?

ashley greene's red carpet looks are usually consistently awesome. but her valentino sheath really disappoints. not a stand-out look.

megan fox looks great showing off her killer stems
in an isabel marant top/skirt ensemble. i'm not the hugest fan of drapey skirts, but she really pulls it off.  having that figure can't hurt either!

nina dobrev of "vampire diaries" rocks this
figure-flattering alex perry dress, looking absolutely fabulous.  the shoes are perfectly understated, the pale colouring of the dress goes great with her
dark locks, and the strapless ensemble fits her to a T. this is my vote for best dressed of the evening.

fixin' to thrill

picked up these 4 polishes at h&m the other day for something ridiculous like $4.
they are almost inappropriate for fall but nice to wear while the weather is still warm. hothothot!
